This beautiful swimming hole in Kentucky is located on Fendley Mill Road and is about 20 minutes north of the heart of LaGrange. It's also not far from Louisville, so it is easily accessible for many in Kentucky.

2. The quarry was supposed to be a park, but thankfully that plan didn't work out.

The initial plan for the quarry was for it to be a park. It was to be utilized for the training and practice of professional divers. Instead, it became one of the best swimming holes in Kentucky, which many enjoy each summer.

3. You'll have plenty of time to swim.

The open hours are Friday through Monday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. There could be exceptions on holidays, and it opens for the season in mid-May. Stay up to date on the park's open times on its website, linked below.

4. Pricing is fair and safety is a priority.

The fee to get in is very reasonable and is for regular swimming and floating. The fees are charged to help maintain the upkeep of the quarry. Rules and instructions are posted to ensure proper safety precautions are taken, and are strongly enforced. Those who do not follow the rules can be expelled for the day, or longer, depending on the offense.

5. It's for adults only!

This is an adults-only swimming hole. There can be no children of any age, nor any pets allowed on the premises. Those who violate this rule must leave the property and there are no exceptions. Everyone must have an ID showing their age is 18 or older.

6. You must bring your own float, and you can even bring a paddle board!

Swimmers are welcome to bring their own floats, paddle boards, canoes, kayaks, and non motorized water toys.

7. The waters are pristine and crystal clear.

There is no fishing, boating or motorized aqua-vehicles allowed on the water. These simple rules prevent chemical leaks, gas build up, or oil leaks, keeping the water looking fresh and clear. Unlike other swimming lakes in Kentucky, you don’t have to fear getting caught on a fishing hook left behind, or the scent of rotten bait baking in the sun.

8. Thank you rain water!

Perhaps the primary reason the water looks and stays so beautiful is because of the type of water it is. This amazing clear water quarry is completely filled with nothing but pure Kentucky rain water. This was no easy feat, as it took around 15 years for the quarry to completely fill up. The weather was not always cooperative.
