Here’s What It Looks Like When Every Waterfall In Kentucky Is Completely Frozen

If you’ve spent some time in Kentucky during the four seasons, then you know it can get COLD in Kentucky. And not just a little cold. So cold, in fact, that ice can form on large bodies of water, and our state's gorgeous waterfalls can also turned into frozen works of art. Chasing waterfalls is a favorite activity in the warmer months in the Bluegrass State, but thankfully, a few brave (and bundled up) photographers were able to capture these natural wonders in our frigid state. Take a peek at these frozen waterfalls in Kentucky!

1. Cumberland Falls, Kentucky

Kentucky's largest waterfall, Cumberland Falls, looks like a scene straight out of the Arctic. The surrounding rocks, trees, and pool of water are covered in ice, making this "Niagara of the South" a sight to be seen! Easily one of everyone’s favorite waterfalls in Kentucky.

2. Dog Slaughter Falls, Kentucky

Dog Slaughter Falls is a favorite waterfall to seek out, as it runs down through the creek and rocks. Not much of it is running in this picture, however, as ice appears to be crashing over the edge of the rock and piling up into a unique formation. This waterfall makes winter in Kentucky look gorgeous!

3. Falls of the Ohio, Indiana

Falls of the Ohio is technically located just across the river in Indiana, but it's known for the epic views of Louisville. The waterfall is a lovely feature and it's even more mesmerizing in a frozen state. If you’re in Louisville and looking for waterfalls near me, make sure to check this one out!

4. Princess Falls in McCreary County

Princess Falls in McCreary County is one of many waterfalls in this beautiful area of Kentucky. After a good rain storm, this waterfall is quite magnificent, and you could argue that it is also incredible after days of sub-freezing temperatures. It’s one of the prettiest frozen waterfalls in Kentucky.

5. Private Property, Prospect, Kentucky

This incredibly icy scene was captured on private property in Prospect, Kentucky. It's even more proof of just how cold it was and also how naturally beautiful Kentucky is any time of year. This waterfall makes winter in Kentucky look so beautiful!

6. Anglin Falls, Kentucky

And finally, this stunning photo was taken near Anglin Falls in Mt. Vernon. You get a true sense of the amount of ice and what the area would look like after a large rainfall, but in this case, it's frozen in time. This is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Kentucky to see frozen!
