The natural beauty of the Bluegrass State is undeniable and one of the most memorable ways to experience it is to go on a waterfall road trip in Kentucky. We are home to the Niagara of the South, Cumberland Falls, among several other scenic areas that are definitely worth exploring. Wouldn’t it be great to take a day or three and go on a waterfall tour of our state? Our beautiful Kentucky waterfalls are spread out a bit, so it would be impossible to visit them all in one afternoon. Thus, we have broken it down by location, including a map for your convenience, this way you can plan your ultimate Kentucky Waterfalls road trip. Keep in mind there are many other waterfalls in our state, but here's a way to check out some of the best waterfalls near you in Kentucky.

1. 76 Falls
Located in Albany within Lake Cumberland, 76 Falls is a tranquil spot to relax or picnic. You can view it from the shelter above, or take a boat right up near it. No matter how you decide to experience it, always exercise caution.
2. Yahoo Falls
Yahoo Falls is near the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area in Whitley City. There is a nice little hike to get to the falls, 4 miles out and back, but it is well worth the effort. Yahoo Falls is the tallest waterfall in Kentucky at over 100 feet, but keep in mind that it can be reduced to a very low flow in the dryer/hotter months.
3. Cumberland Falls
The renowned Cumberland Falls is located near Corbin, within Cumberland Falls State Resort Park. This beautiful spot in Kentucky is known for its famed moonbow, and has been referred to as the Niagara Falls of the South.
4. Bad Branch Falls
Bad Branch Falls can be found along one of the most scenic hikes in Kentucky, off KY 932 in Eolia. This beautiful preserve is not only home to Bad Branch Falls, but also to Kentucky’s only known pair of nesting Ravens. The falls are located about eight miles south of Whitesburg off 932.
5. Flat Lick Falls
Flat Lick Falls is about 7 miles south of McKee and offers a nice picnic area with a gorgeous view. This is a family-friendly hike that's still filled with adventure.
6. Anglin Falls
This falls is located right off Anglin Falls Road near Berea. This whimsical fall is in the John B Stephenson Memorial Forest and State Nature Preserve. The serenity of the surroundings will make you fall in love with this stunning area of our state.
7. Creation Falls
Red River Gorge is filled with scenic hikes in Kentucky and one that's worth a visit is the Rock Bridge Trail. There you'll find Creation Falls and a serene place to relax and take it all in.
8. Broke Leg Falls
If you don't want to do much hiking, this is a great waterfall to visit. Broke Leg Falls. is best after rainfall, but keep in mind it can get very muddy and slick. The area itself is quite peaceful.
Waterfalls are truly magical places, and a Kentucky waterfalls road trip can be a very serene or romantic adventure. Each one of these beautiful places offers a view of Mother Nature’s memorable Bluegrass beauty, which is unlike any other state.
