Hiking is a wonderful way to spend a day in Kentucky, and there's no better reward when walking a trail than happening upon a beautiful waterfall. Our state is filled with both easy-to-reach and hidden gems that show off the scenic, natural beauty of Kentucky. We have a thing for waterfalls and love sharing them with you, and Kentucky photographer Greg Grayson definitely knows how to capture them. We've come up with the ultimate bucket list of waterfall hikes that you must experience and since he's been lucky enough to see them all, Greg has graciously shared his stunning work so we can take you on a tour. Here are 11 must-see waterfall hikes in Kentucky!
1. Bark Camp Cascades
The Bark Camp Trail is located in Whitley County within Daniel Boone National Forest. This remote trail is rustic and somewhat challenging, and like all of these hikes, absolutely must be left undisturbed. A walk along this trail will show you the classic beauty of Kentucky, and after a good amount of rain, several waterfalls. The cascades that rush down the creek (shown above) are especially stunning. 2. Eagle Falls
Eagle Falls is a popular destination within Cumberland Falls State Resort Park. The 1.9-mile loop trail gives you a unique view of Cumberland Falls, so this is definitely a worthy adventure. Learn more about this hike in our previous article here.
3. Flat Lick Falls
Flat Lick Falls can be found just outside of McKee along a family-friendly, 0.4-mile trail. While easily accessible, this area has abundant natural beauty and still provides plenty of adventure. See more of this waterfall hike in our previous article here.
4. Tioga Falls
Tioga Falls is a hidden gem located along the Tioga Falls Trail on the property of Fort Knox. Because this is an actively used area, the trail can be closed from time to time. 5. Van Hook Falls
The hike to Van Hook Falls is a tough one, but so worth it when the water is really rushing. Located in Laurel County, the hike is about five miles out and back and the waterfall is located out about 2.5 miles. Be prepared for solitude and serenity on this trail and be on the lookout for other small waterfalls along the path. You'll quickly understand why Van Hook Falls is considered one of the best waterfall hikes in Kentucky.
6. Yahoo Falls

7. Dog Slaughter Falls

8. Creation Falls

We've saved the largest - and some would argue the best - for last. Cumberland Falls is Kentucky's best-known waterfall, and for good reason.
