Leave Your Worries Behind When You Take A Day Trip To This Remote Trail In Kansas

We all need to escape from our stresses every once in a while: modern life can get quite hectic! I love going out into nature, and fortunately for those of us in Kansas, there's no shortage of wonderful parks to explore here. One of our favorite trails in the Sunflower State is the George Latham Hiking Trail in Woodridge Primitive Park. This 4.1-mile loop trail is in Lawrence, but it's an unexpectedly remote area of the city, and there's plenty of peace to be found there. Check it out:

When it comes to big cities in Kansas, Lawrence is pretty much a bustling metropolis, so it's surprising that there's such a secluded trail there.

However, that's just what you'll find at this beautiful trail.

It's such a great hike that it's been designated as a National Recreation Trail. It's one of 22 trails in Kansas to receive this lofty recognition.

The trail wraps around a peninsula of Clinton Lake, and you'll enjoy plenty of waterfront scenery throughout the hike.

One of the cool things about this trail is the variety of landscapes.

Not only will you walk through the forest, you'll also pass through fields and along the shoreline, too.

Some areas can be a bit rocky, but overall, it's considered a moderately challenging route and takes most hikers about an hour and a half in its entirety.

Definitely make sure to wear insect repellent, as it can get pretty buggy in the shaded areas.

This is such a beautiful trail that will make you feel miles away from the city!
