This Waterfall Swimming Hole In Kansas Must Be On Your Summer Bucket List
Chase State Fishing Lake in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas, features the beautiful Chase Lake Falls, a perfect summer destination for fishing, hiking, and cooling off.
We get a bad reputation as a flat, boring state that doesn't have much worth traveling to see. But anyone who's been to Kansas knows that couldn't be further from the truth. From our wonderful stores and restaurants to our charming small towns and our natural wonders, there is a lot to see and do in the Sunflower State! One of our favorite summer destinations in Kansas is tucked away in the little town of Cottonwood Falls. Here, you'll find Chase State Fishing Lake, a popular spot for fishermen to cast their lines. Hidden in the woods is a beautiful waterfall that goes by a couple of different names: you may hear it referred to as Chase Lake Falls or Prather Creek Falls. No matter what name you choose to call it, it's a lovely spot and the perfect place to cool off on a hot summer day!
Chase Lake Falls is right in the middle of the gorgeous Flint Hills region. The sight of these rolling hills shocks those who think of Kansas as completely flat!
There are several nearby trails that are perfect for exploration. The trees provide some shelter from the sun, so it's a bit cooler while hiking than it is out in the open.
The series of falls that make up Chase Lake Falls/Prather Creek Falls is absolutely stunning even at low flow.
The flow varies greatly throughout the year, with the strongest currents happening in the summer just after heavy rainfall.
The area near the falls is a great spot to dip in the water and cool off!
Remember to always be careful, especially around slippery rocks.
This area is one of our favorite places to go during the summer in Kansas: it's so beautiful!
