The Stunning Top-Secret Natural Spring In Indiana Nobody’s Ever Heard Of

Hidden along the gorgeous banks of the Maumee River in northeastern Indiana is an amazing hidden natural spring that truly doesn't get the attention it deserves. Heck, I've been writing about this amazing state for four years now and somehow I've never heard of this one - and it's a delight. There's an amazing natural spring in Indiana just waiting to be explored, but come quick - this secret won't last. Of all the amazing natural wonders in Indiana, this one might just be one of the most special.

Welcome to Blue Cast Springs, an absolutely jaw-dropping little slice of paradise in the town of Woodburn.

It's a quiet, calm place with a beautiful, crystal-clear secret: a hidden natural spring that you can still enjoy to this day.

Wander through the forest and enjoy the beautiful, shady woods knowing you'll soon be waterside, enjoying the beauty of the Indiana countryside.

The land trust goes way back; in 1901, a local businessman purchased the land (and the spring) and began bottling water from it to sell as a miracle cure.

His goal was to eventually open a sanitarium in this area - a goal he realized that wouldn't last.

By the 1920s, the sanitarium was already done for, and today you can still see the remains of the building's foundation.

Of course, the wondrous natural spring is the main event, and it's beautiful.

Come right down next to the water or sit atop one of the incredible, 30-foot-high bluffs surrounding the area. Sometimes a bird's eye view is the best idea - unless you're like I am and want to get your feet wet.

Of course, there's more to this little sanctuary than the springs; hike around the grounds on beautiful trails covered in summer wildflowers.

The preserve is open year-round, but I find that the best time(s) to visit are the warmer months - plus autumn, thanks to the incredible, breathtaking explosions of color.

Blue Cast Springs is a hidden gem in Indiana that's perfect for a day trip.
