Spencer, Indiana, is home to the stunning McCormick’s Creek Canyon Waterfall, a perfect day trip destination.

Tucked away in Washington Township is the small town of Spencer, Indiana. Spencer is a town of fewer than 2,500 people, and if you weren’t specifically looking for it, you might drive right on through. However, there is a natural wonder hiding in this tiny Indiana town that you likely want to detour for. McCormick’s Creek Canyon Waterfall is about as beautiful as it gets in terms of natural beauty, and it’s a stunner any season of the year. This natural wonder in Spencer, Indiana, is about as perfect of a day trip as you can get.

Spencer, Indiana is a tiny town in Owen County, platted in 1820. Today, this delightful small town has become a quintessential day trip adventure for anyone who enjoys that small-town ambiance.

But what many visitors might not know is that tucked away in Spencer is a beautiful waterfall known as McCormick’s Creek Canyon Falls.

The waterfall is fairly simple to get to when trekking Trail #3. Guests will have to do some minimal walking with a decent amount of stairs before reaching the falls.

But the highlight is that you can get very close to this natural wonder. Whether you choose to view the falls from the top or dip into the shallow pool below, this is an incredible adventure.

If you wait to visit these falls until after a day of rain, you’ll be in luck, as the cascades only get better after a storm.

You can even meander over to the platform situated on the canyon, which will give you some of the best birds-eye views of the flowing water below.
