Fox Island Park is situated in northeast Indiana and comprises 605 acres. It is owned and operated by Allen County and is known as a lovely place to hang out during the summer months.
The most fascinating and popular feature is the natural swimming hole known as Bowman Lake. There is a small beach leading into the lake and guests are allowed to swim at their own risk as there is no lifeguard on duty.
Dogs are allowed on the beach and may also swim in the water. Guests also use the beach to sunbathe, play in the sand, and enjoy other waterside activities.
One of the most popular things to do at Fox Island Park is to visit the nature center which is home to a gift shop, classrooms, conference rooms, and more. About 270 acres of this park is dedicated to the State Nature Preserve, and there are more than six miles of trails.
A wide variety of wildlife is found at Fox Island due to the diverse ecosystems. Prairies, wetlands, sand dunes, marshes, and more abound.
Another activity enjoyed at this natural swimming hole is fishing. Those with a license can pay $2 to engage in this timeless joy.
Few people know that this lake is here, making it the perfect place to get away from it all. No summer is complete without a visit.
