There is nothing quite like a visit to a botanical garden. While some of our favorites include the Idaho Botanical Garden in Boise and the University of Idaho Arboretum and Botanical Garden in Moscow, there is another garden that is a plant wonderland — Thomas E. Ricks Horticulture Demonstration Gardens. Located at the Brigham Young University campus in Rexburg, this incredible Idaho garden is where you’ll not only find hundreds of plants and flowers, but beautiful features as well like waterfalls, bridges, a gazebo, picnic areas, and more. It may just become your own little slice of paradise that you’ll have a hard time leaving.
Plant lovers and those who just want to spend some time outdoors will quickly fall in love with the Thomas E. Ricks Horticulture Demonstration Gardens in Rexburg, Idaho.
This 10-acre garden is one of the main focal points of the BYU Idaho campus and is where you could spend time walking, exploring, meditating, and reflecting.
This garden was originally established in 1977 as an outdoor teaching space for the Horticulture Department at Ricks College. In the early 2000s, this garden was transformed and updated to create an area that the entire community could enjoy — not just the college.
As you walk around, you will find all types of plant varieties from flowers to trees to shrubs and more.
But, the Thomas E. Ricks Horticulture Demonstration Garden is unique because each year, a new feature is designed and constructed by students. These features add even more charm and magic to this beautiful space such as gorgeous picnic areas …
... waterfalls …
... and gazebos.
The Thomas E. Ricks Horticulture Demonstration Gardens is wonderful to visit during the spring and summer months when the flowers are in bloom, but we also love visiting during the fall. As the leaves change colors throughout the garden, the scenery is absolutely breathtaking.
