You’re Going To Love These Predictions About Idaho’s Mild Upcoming Winter

Idaho is expected to experience a wet and snowy winter according to the Farmers' Almanac 2023-2024 predictions.

We all remember Idaho's snowpocalypse of 2017. It was a hard time for many (although skiers and snowboarders rejoiced). Last year we reached record snowfalls that closed many schools and businesses for days and weeks at a time. Stores literally ran out of snow shovels, plows, and blowers. Ice melt was equally scarce to come by. So the question on many people's minds are whether or not we should expect the same thing this year. The Old Farmer's Almanac just released their winter predictions for 2018 and you might be pleased at what they had to say.

Idaho had a record-breaking winter last year both in temperature and snowfall. The snowfall last year is currently considered to be the 12th largest amount of snow we've had in 100 years. Will this year be a repeat?

The Old Farmer's Almanac predicts that 2018 has a milder and more normal winter in store for us. We can expect a "brisk, but drier than normal" season.

It is predicted that both snowfall and temperature will return to average amounts we've seen in the past. Although, there will be occasional bouts of snowfall and frigid temperatures, but these bouts will be balanced out with more temperate and benign weather.

If we learned anything from last year, you should still make certain preparations for this winter (make sure you have a snow shovel handy)...just in case!

You can expect temperatures to drop and snowfall to increase most significantly during the month of December. Temperatures will continue to be pretty frigid through early January, and then become mild by February.

This upcoming winter is looking a lot more typical to what we're used to in Idaho.

Temperatures will still be quite cold, but it's looking to be a lot drier than last year. Snow will still be present, especially in the higher regions, so winter sports enthusiasts can breathe easy!

What do you predict for Idaho's winter this year? Will it be like last year or do you think the Farmer's Almanac has it right? Let us know!
