You will find the trailhead off Interstate 90 at the Fourth of July Pass Park N’ Ski area.

The Fourth of July Summit Loop is a 6.4-mile loop trail. It will take you a few hours to complete but it’s not too overwhelming.

This trail is a bit unique because it is open year-round and during the winter months, it transforms into a cross-country skiing and snowshoe area.

But in the summer months, this is a trail that is wonderful for hiking, mountain biking, and even horseback riding.

The trail is moderate in difficulty as there are some adequate climbs you will have to make.

But, it is easy to be distracted from the challenge as you’ll hike through the heart of the forest. You’ll be surrounded by trees, which not only provide some incredible views but also offers plenty of shade as well.

You’ll cross creeks and bridges along your way …

… and come to views that will make your jaw drop. On clear days, you can see for miles. The forest and mountain views are inspiring and will completely mesmerize you.

During the summer, we suggest taking a map of the journey with you. While some areas of the trail are easy to follow, others are a bit overgrown and can be challenging to follow.

But, there's no doubt that a day in the forest is what you need. It's a mesmerizing adventure that you'll never regret taking.
