The Stunning Landscape In Idaho That Appears As Though It Was Ripped From A Painting

It is impossible to list the single most beautiful area of Idaho. From the Palouse to the Snake River Canyon to the Sawtooth Mountains, much of Idaho appears as though it was ripped from a painting. But today, our adventure takes you to Fox Creek Trail, a five-mile hike near Sun Valley that is absolutely breathtaking. With rivers and creeks, mountains, trees, wildflowers, and more, your entire journey is going to be filled with stunning scenery.

Fox Creek Trail is one of the best hikes near Sun Valley, Idaho. This is a 5.3-mile loop trail in the Sawtooth National Forest where every mile is packed with gorgeous scenery.

You will find the trailhead to the Fox Creek Trail just off Idaho State Highway 75, north of Ketchum.

This trail is considered moderate in difficulty as there are some inclines you have to climb and you’ll have some loose rocks you’ll have to carefully trek over as you go.

Hikers tip: If you tackle this trail counterclockwise, you’ll have more hills to climb.

But regardless of your direction, you’ll encounter all types of unique landscapes and scenery.

You’ll hike through forested areas where you'll feel disconnected and away from the worries of the world …

… and to overlooks with gorgeous views of the valleys and the mountains.

In the summer, you’ll enjoy wildflowers covering the meadows.

The fall is particularly beautiful with vibrant autumn hues enhancing the gorgeous scenery even more.

You will enjoy water and stream views along the way — just be prepared for a few water crossings. I recommend bringing an extra pair of socks and shoes in case you become a little wet.

Despite being five miles long, this loop trail near Sun Valley will seem to go by quickly. There is something new and beautiful to see around every turn. Your entire journey will feel as though you are walking through the middle of a painting.
