There’s A Restaurant On This Remote Hawaii Farm You’ll Want To Visit
Maui Tropical Plantation's Mill House Restaurant offers stunning views and mouthwatering food, making it a must-visit romantic dining spot.
Maui is known for its pristine beaches, stunning natural beauty, world-class luxury resorts, and tourist destinations. This picturesque island is also home to plenty of lush greenery, charming plantations, and mouthwatering restaurants. Located in Waikapu at the base of the West Maui Mountains is the Maui Tropical Plantation, a beautiful slice of paradise that is home to a restaurant so good, we would travel across the world just to visit. This is the Mill House Restaurant, and the photographs definitely don’t do this place justice.
For one, we absolutely cannot get over these incredible views.
I dare you to imagine a more romantic setting for a dinner date with your significant other, because I’m not sure such a place exists.
Don’t even get me started with the mouthwatering food…
Carefully selected from the plantation’s grounds or from close collaboration with local farmers and providers, only ingredients of the highest quality are used at The Mill House.
Chef Jeff Scheer, who grew up in southeastern Ohio, has found his home on Maui after studying in fields and kitchens across California and Oahu. He has now created the ultimate "farm to table" restaurant, by growing and sourcing unique ingredients just yards away from his kitchen. The dining experience created is both endlessly creative and extremely unique - at least in Hawaii.
""My appreciation for what Maui has to offer on a culinary level has turned into a way of life. A year-round growing cycle and an abundance of local sustainable farms keep my mind stimulated and always looking to raise the bar and create something new," executive chef Jeff Scheer.
And because of Scheer’s farm to table vision and expertise, the menu changes constantly based on what is being harvested on any given day.
The incredible Mill House Restaurant isn’t the only thing to do at this tropical working farm - guests can learn about the growing process of sugarcane and pineapple on a tram tour of the farm, grab a cup of Hawaiian-grown coffee from the Mill House Roasting Company, or enjoy a sweet treat made from ingredients sourced from the plantation at The Scoop.
The plantation also plays hosts to various events, including outdoor concerts, movie nights and weddings. Oh, and we can’t forget about the on-site ziplines, Kumu Farms, Waikapu’s farm fresh market, Moku Pua Soap Factory, or the plantation’s charming country store.
The enchanting Mill House Restuarant - and the grounds of the Maui Tropical Plantation - certainly induce a dream-like state, and you'd be crazy not to put this magnificent restaurant and farm on your Hawaiian bucket list, along with Oahu's Kahumana Organic Farm + Cafe.
