Swim at This Iconic Waterfall Swimming Hole in Georgia for the Ultimate Outdoor Fun

Take an easy, forested trail to a multi-tiered waterfall swimming hole. It's equal parts fun and refreshing.

Summer is the season of splashing, whether that means stepping into the coastal surf, jumping into a swimming pool, or, my personal favorite, discovering a natural swimming hole. Georgians are spoiled for choices when it comes to this last category, but one of the best can be found hidden inside the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest. Sea Creek Falls is a multi-tiered, picture-perfect waterfall swimming hole that's wonderfully refreshing on a hot day. Plus, compared to some other swim spots in Georgia, it's a true gem.

Just about an hour from Blue Ridge, Georgia, Sea Creek Falls is a magnificent 30-foot waterfall that pours into a shallow pool perfect for wading. Plus, getting there is easy. You'll park in the small lot near the trailhead. Getting to the waterfall means taking a short, easy stroll through the woods. The path is well-marked and a little over 0.2 miles each way.

There's a quick incline right before you get to the actual waterfall, but most of the trail will be flat. According to the AllTrails listing, in fact, it's just 29 feet of elevation gain—rare for a Georgia waterfall trail! One thing to note: if it's rained recently, the trail will get quite muddy, so you'll want to wear hiking shoes that you don't mind getting dirty. One recent hiker shared that her boot almost got stuck in the mud!

Before long, the waterfall will reveal itself; you may very well hear it before you see it! But the only way to see the falls head-on is by wading into the water, which is highly recommended on a hot day. The water is fairly shallow and sandy on the bottom, perfect for even little explorers. You can choose to sit on one of the rocks and dangle your feet into the water, or swim around more. It's a fun, playful swimming hole that isn't too deep and feels accessible to beginner swimmers. As you can imagine, Sea Creek Falls is a popular swimming spot, especially among families, so be sure to arrive early if you're looking for a little solitude.

So whether you're splashing around or prefer sitting on a rock, absorbing the sights and sounds of the water, your visit to Sea Creek Falls will completely rejuvenate you. Dogs are allowed on this trail, but they must remain on leash at all times.
