Summers in Georgia can be both hot and humid. And let’s be honest, the weather can be unbearable. But the good news is, the higher the needle goes on the thermometer, the more satisfying an afternoon spent on one of our many Georgia rivers can be. It’s one of the few things to do outside in Georgia in the summertime that manages to be refreshing! One of the coolest lazy rivers in Georgia is found at Helen Tubing, located in the charming little town of Helen, and it’s absolutely perfect for your next warm-weather adventure. This water experience is all about tubing in Georgia, and it’s perfect for the entire family! Come splash along in the water as you relax on this Georgia lazy river.
Helen Tubing is easily one of the best lazy rivers in Georgia. Tubing down the river is great for cooling off in the summer. Since it's located within two hours of Atlanta and 25 miles from Dahlonega, the town is a quick day trip from either location. Helen is such a little Bavarian-style mountain town with so many interesting shops, restaurants, cafes, and more. Not to mention its access to hiking trails and attractions in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
This lazy river is a reason to visit and offers a scenic and relaxing way to experience the Chattahoochee River that runs through the town. It is fun for all ages and is a popular destination for families with kids. Since this is a seasonal outdoor activity, the tubing usually begins in May once the weather warms up outside.
For a small family of four, the price will be less than $60 for tubing down the Chattahoochee River! That means that you can start your morning off with the easy float along the lazy river, and then return, have a picnic, and still have plenty of time to explore the town of Helen. A trip down the river generally lasts about two hours, so you can have a whole afternoon of fun here.
The shuttle buses from Helen Tubing will provide transportation to and from all tubing locations, plus provide tubes with or without bottoms, life vests, and hook-up straps. For those with aquatic canines, you can even bring your dog for an additional fee! You’ll have everything you need for two epic lazy river experiences all rolled into one price and one afternoon.
Visit Helen Tubing for an incredible afternoon well-spent lazing along the river with the mountains and quaint German-themed village as your backdrop.
