Hike Less Than A Mile To This Spectacular Waterfall Observation Deck In Florida

Falling Waters State Park in Chipley, Florida, features the state's largest waterfall and offers scenic hiking trails suitable for all ages.

While Florida isn't known for having a ton of waterfalls throughout the state, there are still a handful worth exploring. When you hike the Falling Waters State Park Trail in Chipley, you'll be on a one-mile out and back trail that features a lake as well as the largest waterfall in the state! Perfect for hikers of all ages, not only is there a welcomed dose of nature, but also a waterfall finish, too.

Falling Waters State Park in Chipley, Florida offers up a variety of natural beauty along three different short hiking trails, each offering a different vantage point of the park.

But perhaps the most popular trail is the Sinkhole Trail, which is a boardwalk path that meanders through various ferns and moss-covered boulders to bring guests to the largest waterfall in the state, clocking in at over 70-feet.

While some call it a hiking trail, others prefer a walking trail, as it’s no more than a mile out and back and features a minimal elevation gain.

Wander your way along the footpaths through the expanse of nature, enjoying all of the flora and fauna of the area.

Eventually, the Sinkhole Trail will take guests to a wooden overlook where the creek falls down the side of the bluff into an actual 74-foot-deep sinkhole.

Guests can appreciate the waterfall from the boardwalk overlook, even looking down into the sinkhole to where the cascade disappears.

Just make sure to check the conditions before your visit, as seasonal challenges can directly affect the flow of the water and how intense the waterfall actually is.

But even if you visit on a day where the waterfall is a mere trickle, the beauty of the surrounding area will be well worth the trek anyway.
