The Hidden Nature Park In Florida With 250 Species Of Plants & Trees, And So Much More

I'm in that era of my life where nothing sounds better than spending time in nature. Whether it's hiking a nearby nature preserve through Florida's wetlands or simply sitting at my favorite local park with a book. Being in nature is really rewarding for the mind, body, and soul, which is why if you have a favorite hidden gem park, make sure to visit as much as possible! I recently came across Sholom Park in Ocala, Florida, which is still a hidden gem for many. This non-profit, privately owned, 44-acre botanical garden first opened to the public in 2004 and features a huge variety of plants, trees, flowers, and more. Who's ready to take a hike through nature?

Sholom Park in Ocala, Florida, is a privately-owned 44-acre park that was inspired by a visit to Boston Gardens.

The purpose of the park is very simple - to “provide a place where the pursuit of inner peace and learning may be enhanced and enjoyed."

Named after the founder’s grandfather, Sholom, it should be noted that this is also the Hebrew word for peace. Which is exactly what you’ll find when visiting this park.

There is no political or religious agenda here, nor a particular belief system. It is simply a park created for people to find peace however they please.

For some, it may be wandering through the grounds along the paved trails, stopping every so often to take in the sounds, smells, and sights.

For others, it might be having a picnic by the pond, enjoying the sounds of the nearby fountains.

Before you visit, check out the park’s website for all the necessary information, from the hours of operation which can change seasonally, to a downloadable park map to help you get through the grounds.

There are various park features worth exploring during your visit. Start with the Japanese Zen Garden, which provides a place perfect for quiet introspection and appreciation of nature.

Or head to The Labyrinth, allowing guests to take a physical, spiritual, or meditative walk along the beautiful pathways. There are even 24 points of reflection here, so that guests can create their own unique labyrinth experience.

With a wealth of trees, flowers, and plant species, plus tons of things to do and see, Sholom Park is the perfect place to visit when you’re looking to unwind and reconnect with nature.
