Smack dab in the middle of Volusia County, you’ll find over 27,000 acres of forest and wetlands known as Tiger Bay State Forest.
What was purchased back in 1977, the forest was intended to be a haven for wildlife, especially for species that have been declared threatened, endangered, or of concern.
This is why Tiger Bay State Forest has become a habitat and nesting area for both black bears and bald eagles.
The history of the state forest, however, was not always pristine natural beauty - back in 1998 the Summer Wildfire Firestorm demolished around 15,000 acres of the park, which led to huge restoration efforts.
Today, the park is as beautiful as ever, with huge wetlands, pine islands, swamps, forests, two lakes, and tons of ponds.
But it’s really the wildlife you’ll come across that will surely be the highlight of any experience.
Enjoy primitive campgrounds, tons of recreational activities, and natural beauty in abundance.
Spend the day hiking, biking, camping, horseback fishing, or fishing at this extraordinary state forest in Florida.
