As any Delawarean knows, in the springtime Dover is taken over by beautiful flowers. The bright colors and aromatic blooms that cover the city are, to many, the best part of springtime in Delaware. A quick stroll around downtown Dover will take you on a journey through thousands and thousands of beautiful, bright tulips. Come along as we meander through some of the most gorgeous, multi-hued tulip fields in Delaware. It will make your spring spirit "bloom!"

Each year, Dover literally blooms right in front of your eyes!

It is because the city of Dover plants over 40,000 tulip bulbs in flowerbeds throughout town.

It's no easy task - they're planting five days a week...

...from the fall starting in October through the beginning of the new year in January!

These tulips are the pride of the city...

...and they've traveled quite far to our little state.

Each of the 40,000 tulip bulbs is imported from Holland every year!

Holland is the tulip capital of the world, so the tulip fields in Delaware are the real deal. And boy are they a feast for the senses!

Take some time during your next trip to appreciate these spectacular Dover tulips.

When you pay attention, you'll notice that they are everywhere and really make the Delaware landscapes look so beautiful.

The variety of colors makes the city feel alive.

From reds to pinks, purples, yellows and every shade in between, our capital city begins to look like a painting!

A splash of spring is what this city needs, so go and check the Dover tulips out.

And don't forget to bring your family and friends to enjoy it all too!

Along with 40,000 tulips, the city hangs planters all around Loockerman Street, and fills city garden beds with petunias, marigolds, geraniums, and more. All of the flowers that grow in Dover are so bright, colorful and aromatic that you can't help but love springtime in the First State.

Have you ever been in the First State during the springtime? Did you get a chance to visit any tulip fields while you were here? If so, which ones were your favorites? We'd love to read about your experiences in the comments section below.
