Take advantage of the weather and explore the Bombay Hook Auto Tour. On your 12 mile journey, you'll encounter plenty of places for a short hike and a gorgeous view.
Delaware's coastal marshes are some of the most diverse ecosystems you can find on the East Coast. Visit Bombay Hook to see just how breathtaking our state can be.
Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge offers a 12 mile (round trip) Auto Tour - but it's also a great place for a long and scenic bike ride.
There are several ways to catch a stunning, panoramic view of this protected marsh ecosystem.
At each Auto Tour stop, you'll find a pathway that shows off the refuge. Some of them overlook the famous pools and ponds.
Other overlooks are a little more primitive. You'll want to wear steady shoes and use caution to ensure your safety.
From up here, though, it's easy to spot wildlife! Spot birds, foxes, fish, and more.
The views from the flatter platforms are breathtaking, too. It's hard to imagine a landscape this vast here in Delaware.
On your auto tour, keep an eye out for signs pointing you towards specific observation points.
If you time your trip right, you'll be able to spot the most incredible natural phenomenon in Delaware - the Snow Geese migration. It's truly a sight to see!
Hours: The refuge is open every day from sunrise to sunset. The Visitor Center is open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4 pm year round; closed on federal holidays. In the spring and fall, the Visitor's Center is open on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 pm.
