Hiking At Peoples State Forest In Connecticut Is Like Entering A Fairytale

Peoples State Forest in Connecticut offers a magnificent hiking experience with beautiful scenery and well-maintained trails.

Our state may be small, but there's certainly no shortage of beautiful places in Connecticut. Whether you like the rolling Litchfield Hills, quaint charming little small towns, the tranquility of the Quiet Corner, or love to admire the tides rolling in on our beaches, there's something for everyone in the Nutmeg State. One of our favorite places to explore, though, has to be the magnificent Peoples State Forest. This magical preserve spans over 3,000 acres along the west branch of the Farmington River, and it's an absolutely splendid place for a hike. Next time you need to escape the chaos and havoc of everyday life, travel here and feel like you're in a fairy tale.

The Peoples State Forest Loop trail winds about seven miles around the park. There is a bit of an elevation gain, so between that and the distance, it's considered moderately challenging.

The trails here are well-maintained and there are quite a few side trails, so if you'd like to explore, there's certainly plenty of opportunity to do so.

You'll pass through beautiful scenery worthy of a story book.

And may even see a few critters along the way - keep your eyes peeled!

The area is particularly stunning in fall, when the foliage is a sea of reds and yellows, but this is really a gorgeous place at any time of year.

Few things feel as peaceful as trekking along beside a babbling brook through the tranquil woods.

And looking out over views like this? Absolutely priceless!
