Indian Well State Park is a popular destination on the Housatonic River in Shelton. While many enjoy a lazy summer day on the riverbanks, they often forget to explore the rest of the park and miss out on a captivating natural treasure.

A brief five-minute hike through the woods will lead you to one of Connecticut's gorgeous waterfalls. Take the blue trail from the southernmost parking area below the beach.

Indian Well Falls cascades through large rocks into an emerald pool below. The small lagoon is a tranquil paradise tucked away in the woods.

The deep green color of the water is created by the moss covered rocks all around.

While it might be tempting to take a plunge in this fantastic waterfall splash pool, this is a place for looking not swimming.

For that much-needed refreshing dip, hike back to the sandy beach at the park. The swim area on the river offers plenty of space to splash around.

Bring a picnic and make an entire day of enjoying this wonderful riverfront locale. Indian Well State Park is open from 8 a.m. - sunset daily.
