We can hear the skiers, boarders, and snow shoeing enthusiasts cheering already.

Depending on your preferences, you'll either want to stock up on provisions or plan a ski trip for Jan. 20 to 23, Feb. 4 to 7 and 16 to 19, and March 1 to 3 and 20 to 23. Those are the dates The Farmer's Almanac predicts heavy snowfall.

Don't worry, all of this snow doesn't mean winter will be colder than usual. Temperatures will be cold but not unusually cold.

Hopefully it's consistently cold enough for the ponds to freeze over. What would winter in New England be without pond hockey?

If you love snow sports and hygge, you're in luck. If not, bundle up and ride it out, because winter is coming whether you like it or not.
