Spring is in full bloom here in Colorado and---despite having seasonal allergies unlike any other---I personally cannot get enough! From the warm temperatures to the cherry blossoms to all of the garage sales popping up around town, there is no shortage of things to enjoy around colorful Colorado. Speaking of colorful, gardens everywhere are beginning to bud and bloom, including this neverending wildflower field in the mountains:
Seeing as though Aspen is considered to be one of the most beautiful places in not just Colorado, but the entire country, it should come as no surprise that the area is home to a jaw-dropping and neverending field of native wildflowers. Welcome to the stunning West Maroon Trail; a nearly 13-mile hike that leads guests through some seriously beautiful backcountry! Beginning in Aspen and running through Crested Butte (or vice versa), West Maroon Trail is difficult (gaining a whopping 2,312 feet from start to finish), but is completely worth it to get both a glimpse and a whiff of these colorful and oh-so fragrant blooms!
As per All Trails, access to West Maroon Pass can be gained by driving a half-mile west of Aspen on Highway 82, turning left on the Maroon Creek Road roundabout, and continuing 9 1/2 miles to the Maroon Lake Parking Area.
