The Hike Outside Greater Cleveland That Leads To The Most Unforgettable Destination

Discover the best hiking trails in the Pacific Northwest, known for their stunning scenic views and diverse landscapes.

While Cleveland has its own expanse of unique parks, it's worth venturing outside of the metropolitan area to explore other local parks. After all, Northeast Ohio is chock-full of unique history and beautiful landscapes. Today, we're going to take a look at an Akron park with these features and more. Here, an early hydraulic engineer captured the natural power of water and built a race that fueled early mills. While his Chuckery Race ultimately failed, you can now hike the Chuckery Trail in Cascade Valley Metro Park... and you might even spot a few natural surprises along the way.

In the depths of the Summit Metro Parks, locals love visiting the Chuckery area. The trail is a bit challenging, but it comes with a huge payoff.

This is worth a visit from Cleveland.

At 2.4 miles in length, the Chuckery Trail is best for more experienced hikers... but it's worth the trek because its views of the Cuyahoga River are magical.

Lace up your hiking boots, because this trail is a bit intense. However, it's stunning and well worth a visit.

Elsewhere in the park, visitors can also find incredible overlooks and breathtaking views... and some trails connect to the incredible Towpath Trail, which has its own notable history.

No matter which trail you hike here, there's a multitude of beauty to be seen.

This hike has all sorts of incredible sights of its own... including some unique plants.

The park is full of rare species, including unusual plants and butternut trees. In the spring, the trails are framed by beautiful flowers.

One of the most notable sights in the park is the Signal Tree, which is breathtaking and unique.

This incredible tree is truly one of a kind. It has an eye-catching design, plus an on-site marker to designate its historic status.

This old oak once marked the northernmost point of the Portage Trail... and its unusual shape was used as a landmark by various indigenous tribes.

Back in the day, travelers were often reliant upon markers like unique trees. These features helped them find their way, and trees like this were hard to miss.

Today, at 300 years old, the tree is unlike any other in the area. Just imagine the changes this historic tree has witnessed!

Due to development and the sands of time, many historic trees are long gone in Northeast Ohio. Nonetheless, this centenarian witness has strong roots and impressive vitality.

While that tree is a highlight for many hikers, the other landscape features in the park are every bit as delightful.

Traces of the historic Chuckery Run can still be seen, as well! Keep your eyes peeled as you walk, because there are wonders everywhere.

No matter the season, this hike is a stunner.

Just bundle up! This landscape is a hit with locals, but it does get a bit chilly in the winter months.

There's so much to love about Cascade Valley Metro Park.

You can find the Chuckery area at 837 Cuyahoga St, Akron, OH 44313.
