Experts at Smoky Mountains have created the Fall Foliage Prediction Map to inform readers where and when leaves will begin to change throughout the United States.

This map is for the week of September 10, 2017, when Chicago (and most of Illinois) will just begin to see the first signs of fall color.

By the week of October 1, 2017, we will be close to reaching peak leaf change, making it a good week to start taking pictures!

The following week, beginning October 8, 2017, is when fall will be in its prime in Chicago. You may just want to take off a few days to check out the entire city.

Of course, no predictions are exact. This is just an estimate for when you should start keeping an eye on the trees if you want to enjoy them to the fullest.
