Here in Southern California, we are fortunate to have a ton of farmers' markets with a variety of seasonal produce cropping up year-round. Not every market is the same; each one has a unique personality that really captures the local feel of the neighborhood. Here are 9 of my favorite farmers' markets sprinkled throughout Southern California that everyone will enjoy.

If you're a local, or just happen to be visiting any of the neighborhoods on this list, make a point to add a trip to the farmers market to your itinerary as it's a really cool and delicious activity that supports the local community.

1. Little Italy Mercato in San Diego

If you love a farmers market that feels more like a street festival, then this is the spot for you. In addition to organic produce you'll also find local vendors galore selling handmade goods and wares.

2. The Original Farmers Market Los Angeles

Since 1934, this farmers market has been a staple in the Los Angeles community. It's not your traditional weekly farmers market, but more of a daily outdoor foodie paradise where you can eat, drink and be merry at over 100 shops, restaurants and grocers. Located at 3rd and Fairfax, this is an essential destination for every local or visitor.

3. Brentwood Farmers Market

If it's a Saturday then it's time to head to the Brentwood Farmers Market. Located in downtown Brentwood on Oak and First Street, this market is thriving with fresh produce from local farmers. You'll also find festive music and entertaining activities for the kiddos in your life. Make sure to save some room for all the pastry samples as they are plentiful around the market.

4. The Downtown Santa Monica Farmers Market

For over 30-years, this farmers market has been a leader in the local and organic food movement. You can enjoy this market twice per week on Wednesdays from 8:30 to 1:30 and Saturdays from 8:30 to 1:00.

Every Sunday from 10-2, you'll find this farmers market buzzing with activity. From organic produce, to live music, to a kid's playground, there is something for everyone to enjoy at this Sunday market in Leucadia.

6. Local Harvest Farmers Market in Long Beach

7. Old Town Temecula Farmers Market

Experience the freshness of farm-grown fruits, veggies and flowers at the Old Town Temecula Farmers Market on 6th and Front Street. Held every Saturday, rain or shine, from 8-12:30.

8. South Pasadena Farmers Market

Historic South Pasadena is home to a weekly farmers market held on Thursday evenings from 4-8 at the South Pasadena Station. Meet local farmers, stock up on organic produce, and learn a few cooking tricks during the onsite cooking demos. It's one of the best ways to spend a Thursday!

9. Encinitas Station Certified Farmers Market

Held every Wednesday in downtown Encinitas from 4-7. There's a great community vibe at this market that's hopping with local vendors featuring fresh and organic produce, eggs, breads and pastries.
