If you're craving some natural beauty in your life, Buffalo has plenty to offer! From scenic lakes and peaceful parks to indoor gardens and serene cemeteries, these 11 spots are a great place to enjoy some peace and quiet while you soak in the great outdoors.
1. Get zen at the Japanese Garden.
Break out from the hustle and bustle of the city to enjoy serenity at the Japanese Garden. You can find your zen at 1 Museum Ct.
2. Walk through quiet marshes at Tifft Nature Preserve.
If you're looking for a quiet wander through nature, Tifft is a great place to unwind. Tifft has everything from wooded paths to water views and walkways through marshes, making it a great spot for nature sightings! Find it at 1200 Fuhrmann Boulevard.
3. Take a scenic stroll through Delaware Park.
Delaware Park has 376 acres to explore in Buffalo. Whether you want to catch a glimpse of art from the nearby Albright-Knox or listen to the roar of lions from the zoo, you can find it all at Delaware Park - located on Meadow Drive.
4. Connect on a deeper level at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
It might seem weird to relax in a cemetery, but Forest Lawn is not your typical burial ground. This 269-acre cemetery has several areas to explore and is sometimes home to whitetail deer who also enjoy a cemetery stroll! Find it at 1411 Delaware Avenue.
5. Bring the outdoors in at Buffalo & Erie County Botanical Gardens.
If you need some nature but the weather isn't cooperating with outdoor exploration, head to the Botanical Gardens at 2655 South Park Avenue. The gardens are warm, peaceful, and inviting with soothing water fixtures and hundreds of beautiful plant species to discover.
6. Catch a sunset at Times Beach Nature Preserve.
Times Beach Nature Preserve is located on Coast Cuard Station S Road in Buffalo. From the preserve, you'll have beautiful views of Lake Erie - especially if you're able to catch a sunset!
7. Search for wildlife at Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve.
Reinstein Woods is a 292-acre nature preserve located on Honorine Drive in Depew. Visitors to the preserve can discover unique ecosystems and wildlife living right in Buffalo's backyard!
8. Stay for a picnic at Como Lake.
Como Lake is a popular spot for families and was voted the "Best Family Picnic Area in Western New York." Located at 2220 Como Park Boulevard in Lancaster, this park has 534 acres of beauty to explore!
9. Wander the walkways at Stiglmeier Park.
Stiglmeier Park, located on 810 Losson Road in Cheektowaga, has wooded walkways, walking trails, and several activities to enjoy. It's also located close to Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve - perfect for park-hopping!
10. Sneak away from the suburbs at Yates Park and Green Lake.
For beauty south of Buffalo, Orchard Park is the place to be! Yates Park and Green Lake are a beautiful spot to get away from it all, tucked away on North Lake Drive in Orchard Park. While the park holds several events in the summer, it's large enough to break away from the crowds for peace and quiet, too.
11. Enjoy the view from Chestnut Ridge Park.
Another Orchard Park gem, Chestnut Ridge is a Western New York favorite for nature walks, hiking, and taking in the scenery. Whether you want to hike to the Eternal Flame, take a leisurely stroll along paved pathways, or just sit and enjoy the views of the city on a clear day, you can find it all at 6121 Chestnut Ridge Road in Orchard Park.
