You Might Be Surprised to Hear the Predictions About Arkansas’ Cold and Wet Upcoming Winter

Isn’t it crazy how fast time flies? Before you know it, winter weather will be knocking on our doors. The season starts on December 21st (or December 1st if you prefer to celebrate meteorological winter), and it will be here in the blink of an eye! It's almost time for winter weather in Arkansas already.

So, of course, we thought ahead by checking the 2025-2026 Farmers' Almanac winter predictions for Arkansas. According to the 2026 Farmers' Almanac predictions, the country will experience a winter of “dramatic swings and widespread wintry weather,” and Arkansas will have a “wetter-than-average winter with periodic cold snaps.” The experts aren't worried, so I'm not worried - and you shouldn't be, either. After all, this isn’t our first (winter) rodeo, and it sounds like the perfect winter weather for playing outside or for cozy cabin getaways!

What are the Winter Predictions for Arkansas?

Before I give you a breakdown, allow me to announce that after over 200 years of making predictions, the Almanac declared this season will be its last. Since 1818, the publication has provided us with its “best-guess” for our weather forecast, and we are sad to see it go.

As for winter in Arkansas? If it's anything like previous years, we can expect the weather to be just as unpredictable as it has always been. But the experts at the Almanac predict a wet and cold winter. Keep in mind that predicting the weather any further than about 48 to 72 hours out, veers into the "not necessarily accurate" territory; goodness knows, we know that Mother Nature has a mind of her own.

It's still likely we will have icy conditions and perhaps a blizzard (or two) this season, blowing snow into our region as they do every year. Of course, this might mean we will be hibernating longer this winter - I guess we'll see. But wet wintry conditions aren't all bad - some might even consider them ideal. After all, it’s the perfect weather to cozy up inside a rustic cabin. Or if you don’t mind the colder weather, then you'll be delighted to explore our state parks or chase some of the best frozen waterfalls in Arkansas.

If we are especially blessed this year, we might have a white Christmas. And who doesn’t dream of that? I sure do! So, although the 2025-2026 winter predictions for Arkansas might be a little less snowy than what might be usual, I will certainly make the best of the cozy weather. And you should, too!

While all too many folks would otherwise simply overlook our little corner of the universe in favor of more traditionally snowy destinations, I think that Arkansas should at least be considered. It is, after all, absolutely stunning in the winter; if we're being real here, it's stunning always, but winter just brings with it a certain kind of magic. Don't you agree?
