8 Gorgeous Frozen Waterfalls In Arkansas That Must Be Seen To Be Believed

Winter in Arkansas is an ideal time to explore and enjoy the state's beautiful frozen waterfalls.

Winter in Arkansas presents the perfect opportunity for exploring the state’s waterfalls. Yes, that’s right; winter is the perfect time to check out some of the lovely waterfalls in Arkansas.  When the chill is in the air, we suggest you get out and tour frozen Arkansas waterfalls – it’s a great way to cure the cabin fever that usually comes along with colder temperatures. After one visit, you’ll long for frigid winters in Arkansas that turn our falls into icy beauties.

Most of the following falls are on more remote trails, so be sure to research the area thoroughly before setting out on a hike.

1. Cornelious Falls

The 40-foot Cornelious Falls, which is located just outside of Herber Springs is always a lovely sight, but there's no denying it's especially spectacular during winter in Arkansas, when it's frozen. Its neighboring sister falls, Bridal Veil Falls, is a stunning spot too.

2. The Glory Hole

The Glory Hole is one of the most unique waterfalls in Arkansas. A short hike outside of Deer will lead you to the falls that have eroded a hole through the ledge instead of flowing over it. The waterfall seems to turn into diamonds during the wintertime.

3. Gum Spring Falls

Perhaps just iced instead of frozen, the waterfall along the Gum Springs Trail is still a beautiful sight in winter. An easy walking trail at Mt. Nebo leads to this waterfall in Arkansas, making it easily accessible.

4. Short Grotto Falls

The Short Grotto Falls can be found just outside of Clarksville in an area known as Engagement Hollow. Several waterfalls are scattered around the hollow.

5. Fern Gully

The Fern Gully trail near Ozark may be hard but it's so rewarding once you reach the falls. Be sure you're comfortable with bushwhacking if you plan to visit.

6. Cedar Falls

Cedar Falls can be spotted at the trail near Morrilton. Part of the Petit Jean State Park, the Cedar Falls Trail is a moderate 1.7-mile hike.

7. Woods Boys Falls

Woods Boys Fall and three neighboring falls can be found in a wilderness area south of Mossville. Normally, the falls are over 30 ft. but in winter they diminish to dazzling icicles.

8. Magnolia Falls

This is one of the neighboring falls to Woods Boys Falls. Magnolia Falls is a more modest 26 feet in height but the rock formations make it something special.
