It's only fitting that the Natural State would have some of the nation's cleanest lake water. Lake Ouachita is positively pristine! If you're planning your summer trips be sure to have this lake on the list, it's one you don't want to skip.
An annual trip to Lake Ouachita should be part of every Arkansans' summer bucket list.
Arkansas' largest lake has nearly 1,000 miles of shoreline and 40,000 acres of water to explore. The activities are nearly endless! Plot out a lavish boat party with all the big toys or stick with a fishing rod and island hopping - everyone will find their paradise here.
If you've never been, then you're certainly in for a treat!
Besides just being a colossal lake, the Ouachita also features more than one hundred islands! These spaces range from secluded sand bar to sizable forests. What's even better, this is the state's only U.S. Army Corps of Engineers lake that allows island camping. For more details on that read this article.
With water this clear, you'll never want to leave the lake.
Lake Ouachita is so clear that harmless jellyfish and sponges that can only live in the most pristine environments thrive here. Snorkeling and scuba diving are popular around the lake and understandably so!
Above or below, the lake's clean water will rock you into a relaxing getaway.
This lake can be a wonderful day trip or a full weekend retreat complete with island camping. You'll at least need to stay long enough to catch a fish since the lake also boasts superior fishing, specifically for bass, crappie, bream and catfish.
No matter how long you stay, it only takes a moment to fall in love with Lake Ouachita.
