Hiding deep within Sabino Canyon is a breathtaking fountain of youth that attracts visitors from all over the world.
Accessing it requires driving down a long, windy desert road lined with towering Saguaros, mountains looming ahead as if they own the landscape. With every mile, you inch closer to the destination, with the excitement and anticipation growing exponentially.
Clocking in at 8.5 miles long, the Bear Canyon Trail to Seven Falls is suitable for most skill levels and is rated moderate. Other than its length, nothing about the terrain is particularly challenging.
Bring more water than you think necessary, as shade is sparse. It's an extremely straightforward hike, so that should somewhat help counteract the distance.
Upon reaching the swimming holes, water will never have looked so inviting.
A three-tiered waterfall cascades down into the natural pools below, its gentle trickle evoking feelings of utter tranquility.
Take a look at this breathtaking aerial view of the entire canyon!
You'll notice a series of small springs spread across the rocky landscape, offering several welcome respites for sweaty, exhausted hikers.
The largest pool overlooks Tucson and is understandably the most crowded.
Enjoy a leisurely soak while taking in the awe-inspiring views, and you may never want to leave.
Though the water can appear copper-brown in color, it's actually very clean - the hue is caused by dissolved minerals by the cascade as if flows down Mt. Lemmon.
Pro-tip: Time your visit after a rainstorm to ensure a hearty flow; however, monsoon season can bring flash floods that make the trail inaccessible. Check the weather and trail conditions before you head out on your adventure.
