Take A Boardwalk Trail Through The Mountains Of The McDowell Sonoran Preserve In Arizona

If you love hikes that are short, easy, and ridiculously scenic, the Horseshoe and Desert Parks Loop will quickly become one of your favorite trails. One of the best hikes in Arizona, it's under two miles in length and features a meandering boardwalk that showcases the surrounding mountains as you've never seen them before.

Hikes don't have to be difficult to be worthwhile, and the Horseshoe and Desert Parks Loop is a testament to that.

Located in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve, this scenic, 1.7-mile loop is little more than a leisurely stroll, but it offers some of the most incredible views in the Valley.

The trail has an elevation gain of less than 100 feet, so it's suitable for most ages and skill levels. Leashed dogs are also welcome! Portions are unpaved...

...however, there are also several meandering boardwalks that allow you to gain a whole new perspective on the surrounding landscape.

From the elevated platform, you can gaze out at the towering mountains and lush desert flora that seem to extend for miles in all directions.

While the trail is open year-round, the best time to visit is October through April due to the extreme summer heat in the Phoenix area.

If you do choose to embark on this hike during the summer, definitely plan on doing so at sunrise or sunset. Not only is it safer, but the views are also out of this world.

Also, remember to hydrate - and bring plenty of water for your pups if they join you on this adventure.
