Anyone who has ever visited Arizona knows that we have some of the most incredible natural wonders in the entire world. It only makes sense that we also have truly jaw-dropping views to match!
It feels like a nearly impossible task to actually pick out which ones are the best-of-the-best, but Travel+Leisure just did exactly that by compiling a list of the most incredible scenic views in America.
Naturally, the Grand Canyon was among the top views in the country!
It is genuinely hard to find a bad view of our most famous feature, but one spot in particular captured the attention (and praise) from both the publication and readers alike: Mather Point.
Mather Point sits at an unbelievable 7,120-foot elevation and offers some of the most iconic views of the 277-mile long canyon cut deep through the desert by the Colorado River.
There’s no denying that the Grand Canyon’s South Rim is one of the most epic, panoramic spots in this National Park, but the frustration over the crowds that come to bask in the unbeatable glory of Arizona led some to hesitation at visiting this popular spot.
It’s still the single most visited spot on the South Rim, but improvements to the site have helped solve some of the biggest congestion issues.
Redesigns to parking areas, viewing platforms, and the Visitor Center over the last few years have helped ease up the traffic to make the experience more enjoyable for all!
They added an amazing 200-seat theater at the Visitor Center to show off beautiful interpretive films to give guests a more comprehensive understanding and appreciation for how wonderful this place really is.
They also build an amazing amphitheater right on the rim!
Another feature was the addition of a free shuttle bus transit route that allows visitors to move easily between several stunning viewpoints. The shuttles also allowed the parking areas to be pushed back away from the rim and create more room to move!
Even if you have visited Mather Point before (and let's be honest, it's pretty much a requirement if you live here), there can NEVER be "too much time" spent exploring the Grand Canyon!
