Take This Easy Trail To An Amazing Series of Waterfalls In Alaska

Liberty Falls Recreation Site in Alaska offers stunning waterfall views, hiking trails, and camping facilities.

Alaska is filled with beautiful sights to see, especially waterfalls. If you find yourself asking, "are there any waterfalls near me?" then you need to check out the Liberty Falls Recreation Site in Alaska.  Liberty Falls not only stuns with a series of drops for the water to cascade over but ends up in a gorgeous jade green pool that you may want to take a swim in. This is a stunning waterfall trail in Alaska that's a must-see for anyone visiting The Last Frontier.

If you're in the Copper River Valley, Liberty Falls Recreation Site is a perfect place to stop when you want to tackle one of the best waterfall hikes in Alaska.

Right off the Edgerton Highway, this little pull out features a campground and waterfall area that is easily accessible. It is also surprisingly quiet and private, and you might just have the trail all to yourself.

There are over 10 campsites for you to choose from if you'd like to spend the night.

There is both RV and tent camping allowed. There are also plenty of picnic tables, day parking, bathrooms, and of course, a trail out to the falls.

Even the view from the campsite area is stunning.

Walk or drive over the bridge that crosses the falls, and connects the two halves of the campground. As you look toward the falls, the trail begins on your right. Even if you don't enjoy hiking, you can still see some of the falls from the campground!

The out-and-back trail clocks in at roughly 2.3 miles.

The start of the trail is moderately steep, but it flattens out when you get to the ridge. From the ridge to the falls and lake the trail is flat and easy to navigate, just make sure your shoes have a good grip since the trail can get pretty slippery, especially when you get closer to the falls.

The trail officially ends at 1.7 miles, but you can go another .25 miles further to the lake on unmaintained trails.

The trees will open up, giving you a great view of the surrounding mountains.

The water in the pools is a beautiful jade color, just begging you to jump in.

While you can certainly swim in this picture-perfect swimming hole in Alaska, be aware that the water will be very cold! Take the necessary safety precautions.

The water from the falls can rush quickly, and the rocks nearby are slippery.

Please be aware of children both at the end of the trail, and by the campground area. The water is cold, swift, and deep, and can be a danger to small children. It's so beautiful to look at it, it's easy to relax and forget your surroundings!

Liberty Falls Trail In Alaska is located at Liberty Falls State Recreational Site.

The trail is mostly used for hiking, and the best times of year to hike it are March through November. Overnight fees for tent camping are $5.00, and RV parking is $10.00.
