The Alabama Park Worth Driving Across The State To Explore

Visiting Alabama state parks, especially Rhodes Ferry Park in Decatur, offers a blend of natural beauty, outdoor activities, and cultural history.

Visiting parks in Alabama offers a captivating blend of natural beauty, outdoor adventure, and cultural exploration, making it an immensely enjoyable experience for all. With diverse landscapes ranging from serene lakes and lush forests to rolling hills and pristine beaches along the Gulf Coast, these state and city parks provide a stunning backdrop for activities like hiking, camping, fishing, and picnicking. The parks are thoughtfully equipped with well-maintained trails, scenic overlooks, and recreational facilities that cater to both leisurely strolls and exhilarating escapades. Some of our parks are even worth driving to no matter where you live. One of these spaces, and my personal favorite Alabama park, is Rhodes Ferry Park in Decatur Al.

Rhodes Ferry Park is a city park that's located in Decatur, Alabama. Its unique name honors the city of Decatur's original name, which happened to be Rhodes Ferry.

This beautifully landscaped park is a great destination for a family day trip. There are also tables and covered pavilions to have lunch.

Rhodes Ferry Park is situated on the banks of the Tennessee River and it offers the most breathtaking views of the water, bridges, and more.

There are several spots located throughout the park for visitors to enjoy these breathtaking views, in addition to walking trails along the river.

For the tiniest of visitors, Rhodes Ferry Park also has a state-of-the-art playground.

Trains are sometimes seen running through the park, and...

....riverboats are often seen docking. Oh what a sight to see!

The next time you're in the Decatur, Alabama area, or even across the state, consider a visit to Rhodes Ferry Park. It might not be one of Alabama's largest city parks, but the views alone make the visit well worth it.

While in Decatur, a great place to grab a bite to eat is Big Bob Gibson Bar-B-Q. It's one of the world's oldest barbecue restaurants. It also serves some of the tastiest barbecue you'll ever eat.
