This Longtime Local Favorite Montana Restaurant Just Opened Under New Ownership
If you grew up or went to college in Missoula, you may have some fond memories of The Old Post. This beloved pub was a local hot spot for over 30 years before it abruptly closed in 2019 due to some financial difficulties. But thanks to a couple of University of Montana alums, The Old Post is back, and we dare say it’s better than ever.
The Old Post is located at 103 West Spruce Street, which also served as its original location.
The name, address, and vibes are the same, but this place has seen some major upgrades.
The Old Post was purchased by Tom and Kimberly Durham, who used to visit as customers as long as 20 years ago.
Kimberly is the former Meagher County Attorney, and she has quite a bit of restaurant experience. She owns the upscale Bar 47 in White Sulphur Springs, and her children own The Jawbone Bar & Restaurant there as well.
Kimberly and Tom worked tirelessly to get the space renovated, staying true to its 1920s aesthetics (the building was finished in 1920).
They also added plenty of modern flair.
While the new menu isn't exactly the same as the former menu, they've tried to keep some of the most popular items.
This is the new version of The Drunken Goat, a classic salad from the past.
The Durhams brought in a couple of chefs from Las Vegas to run the kitchen, which has proven to be a great decision.
The pub opens for breakfast every morning and serves dinner until 10 p.m. each night, and it's all delicious.
Recently, The Old Post started offering boozy milkshakes to go, and they taste even better than they look.
The name of the restaurant might be old, but with this fresh new team, we're sure to see some fantastic new menu items in the future.
For a blast from the past AND an entirely new dining experience, check out The Old Post the next time you're in Missoula.
The new owners have done an outstanding job at renovating this place while keeping its original character.
