But today we want to give a shout-out to Billings’ unsung hero, King’s Hat Drive-In, a tasty throwback to the old-school roadside burger stand.
It was established in 1949, meaning it's a local favorite that spans several generations.
The team uses an old-fashioned slicing machine to transform pounds of peeled potatoes into thin strips to fry. Their secret sauce recipe hasn't changed in six decades.

It's called the Flying Burger because the burger machine resembles a flying saucer. The machine crimps the bread around the burger and its toppings into the restaurant's signature burger.
They get creative with the burgers as well, offering pizza burgers and chili burgers. Most toppings, like the bacon, are Montana-raised and grown.
A Hot-N-Tot is a cinnamon Coke, while the Bee Bop spices up a Coke with rum flavoring.
They're open Tuesday through Saturday for lunch and dinner.
