This 550-Mile Train Ride Is The Most Relaxing Way To Enjoy Montana Scenery

In case you haven’t noticed, fall is turning most of Montana into a colorful paradise, especially Glacier National Park and the entire northwestern side. And if you happen to take a ride on Amtrak’s Empire Builder, you can see it all without having to drive.

The Amtrak Empire Builder is one of the most iconic long-distance passenger trains in the country.

It's known for its incredible scenery, especially when you pass through Montana (the train travels from Spokane to Chicago).

Whitefish was named on The Today Show as one of the top spots in the country to see fall foliage.
The train treks through Glacier National Park, stopping in West Glacier, Essex, and East Glacier.

There's never a bad time to take a train through Glacier, but fall is especially colorful.
Believe it or not, the Empire Builder has been around since 1929.

If you ride the train straight through it will take you 11 hours to cruise through Montana, but we highly recommend breaking it up into a long weekend so you can explore.
