There are about 120 waterfalls in Montana… that we know of, that is. Our state’s massive size and abundant nature leave much to be discovered, and there are plenty of “hidden gem” waterfalls sitting at the end of our hiking trails. Cow Creek Falls is one of them, and it’s well worth checking out.

Crow Creek Falls sits at the end of a 5.5-mile hiking trail located near the tiny community of Townsend.

To find the trail, drive down Highway 285 through Radersburg and cruise for about 13 miles to the Jenkins Gulch intersection. Turn right at the TR-109 sign and park at the Jump Off trailhead.
Although the trail isn't exactly short, it's ranked as moderate, meaning most Montanans will be able to handle it.

The trail has its ups and downs, but the scenery remains breathtaking.
This is an out-and-back trail, meaning it doesn't loop.

Eventually, you'll reach the majestic Crow Creek Falls.

Waterfalls are nice and tranquil, and they're great for lowering stress levels. Plus, you'll be ready for a break after hiking almost three miles.
If you take this trail in the morning or during the week, you just might have it all to yourself.
