5 Cheese Wonderlands In Montana That Are Worthy Of A Pilgrimage
Montana might be known for its huckleberries and wheat, but we also happen to have some seriously tasty locally produced cheeses. When you’re seeking something a little better than your average grocery store selection, take a trip to one of these wonderlands.
1. Flathead Lake Cheese, 208 1st Ave E., Polson
It's hard to miss this bright yellow creamery -- and when you're visiting Flathead Lake, you definitely shouldn't pass it up. You'll find a great variety of cheeses here, and with names like Hoppin’ Mad Gouda, you'll want to try them all.
2. The Gourmet Cellar, 208 W Park St., Livingston
The Gourmet Cellar has every kind of fancy fare you can imagine: Wine from all over the world, pantry staples, and a unique collection of cheese, both from Montana and other parts of the world. Take your items to go or order something delicious from the adjacent wine and cheese bar.
3. Lifeline Creamery & Farm Store, 2427 Meridian Rd., Victor
Lifeline Farm is a little piece of paradise in the Bitterroot consisting of a home and barns on 46 acres of pastureland. They produce pure organic Montana-raised beef and dairy, which you can purchase from the Lifeline Farm Store.
4. City Vineyard, 1335 Golden Valley Circle, Billings
City Vineyard is primarily a wine shop, and with 3,000 bottles to choose from, it's safe to say you'll find whatever vino you're looking for. But their selection of gourmet cheeses is also fantastic -- in fact, they even have a monthly cheese club!
5. Mavens Market, 720 W Main St., Bozeman
This brand new Bozeman market just opened at the end of 2018, and it's already a huge hit. They've got over 100 cheeses to choose from, both from Montana and around the world, and they sell everything you need to make your perfect party platter. They also serve the best grilled cheese sandwiches ever.
Montana is the perfect place for dairy lovers.
