There is also a nice 2.3 mile loop that makes for an easy hike with stunning river views.

The mansion on the park grounds was constructed in 1929 by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company founder, Eugene Nims. Situated on the banks of the Mississippi River this mansion was simply a weekend retreat for Mr. Nims, who was an avid gardener. Nims actually started the gardens that still surround the property.

The breathtaking views of the river are what attract many to this gorgeous county park.

The lake is especially beautiful during the golden hour when the trees are full of leaves.
