Although Mississippi is synonymous with great grub, authentic Mexican food is hard to come by. However, we did the impossible and found an unassuming, small town spot hiding in the Pines region that just so happens to serve up some of the best Mexican grub in the state.

There’s much more to Mississippi’s Pines region than pines. Hiding deep within the region, in the small town of Philadelphia, is Hondumex, one of the state’s top Mexican restaurants.

Despite its small size, Philadelphia boasts some great sites and attractions, including the Golden Moon Casino and Williams Brothers, an old-fashioned general store that’s been around since 1907.
Don’t discount it due to its small town locale and modest looks.
