This Hidden Trail In Minnesota Is An Unforgettable Trip Through The Wilderness
Thousands of miles of trails criss-cross the Land of 10,000 Lakes. In fact, according to the DNR, there are more than 1,300 miles of state trails in Minnesota. Many are well-known, but a few are a little more out of the way. That’s certainly the case for the trail we want to feature today. This hidden trail is found in one of Minnesota’s most beautiful state parks. When you follow it, you’ll come face to face with some of the state’s most beautiful wilderness. Take a look:
Silver Creek Trail is a 3.5-mile trek through the gorgeous Jay Cooke State Park. Though it is unpaved, it is an easy trail for most hikers. Address: 780 MN-210, Carlton, MN 55718.
The grassy trail leads through some of the park's most stunning areas. The birch and basswood forest is full of wildlife, including birds, reptiles, bears, and deer.
One of the highlights of the trail is the famous swinging bridge. The bridge crosses the rushing St. Louis River, Minnesota's only river with whitewater rafting opportunities.
The river flows over rugged rock as it makes its to way to Lake Superior. The Silver Creek Trail follows alongside the river - as well as Silver Creek - for part of its journey.
The jagged rock formations that Jay Cooke is famous for are on display along the Silver Creek Trail. If you hike the entire trail, you'll get a full view!
If you're a nature lover in Minnesota, you will absolutely adore this hidden trail at Jay Cooke State Park. For more information about the park, check out the park page on the DNR website.
