Here Are 12 Things You’ll Never Catch Anyone From Boston Doing
Boston has a reputation for history, colleges, and for spawning die-hard sports fans. As Bostonians, we do have certain
charming quirks, however, we’re just as defined by the things that we refuse to do as we are by our actions. It’s hard to catch a Bostonian doing these things. Check out this list and see how many apply to you!
1. Hating seafood.
We absolutely love our chowder, lobster rolls, fried calamari… the list goes on and on.
2. Choosing clam strips over whole clam bellies.
Clam strips usually have the consistency of a deep fried rubber band and they lack the sweetness of whole clam bellies.
3. Turning down a cider donut.
The apple cider donut line is never too long.
4. Leaving the house without layers.
If the weather here were human, it would be that person ahead of you in line at the sub shop who sounds like this: "I want a steak bomb, no wait, make that a chicken parm. Hang on, maybe a salad would be better. Eh, bad idea. I’ll take the roast beef." We have to dress for all possibilities.
5. Perfectly following the rules of the road.
Speeding, forgetting the blinkah exists, driving diagonally to make an exit... these are all part of the charm of Boston driving. In fairness, it’s tough to navigate a city where roads evolved, rather than follow anything resembling a plan.
6. Only frequenting the places tourists have heard of.
There’s a whole other side to Boston where duck boats never venture.
7. Letting the snow hold us back.
We laugh in the face of snow banks! Plenty of Bostonians will still go jogging in a blizzard.
8. We’ll never stop loving Big Papi...
...or Tom Brady.
9. Rooting for the Yankees.
People move from New York to Boston on occasion, but, if they’re smart, they convert their allegiances or whoop in the privacy of their own homes... unless they’re this cute, in which case they can support whichever team they want!
10. Going elsewhere for medical care.
here for our world class hospitals and doctors.
11. Leaving town for college.
can go out of state if your Ma puts the mother in smother. However, with around 80 world class private colleges and universities to choose from in the Greater Boston area, you can probably get a top education without even changing your ZIP Code.
12. Talking smack about Boston.
There are always some people who wind up in a city based purely on career or family needs, but most of us truly love living here.
Obviously, these won’t apply to
everyone, but it’s certainly true for many of us! What things do you think Bostonians won’t do? Let us know on the Only In Boston Facebook page.
