Fall Activities in Cumberland, Maryland

August 28, 2022

What other fall activities can I do in Cumberland?

Never fear! There are plenty of fall activities to keep you feeling cozy and seasonal after your WMSR train ride. Great Allegheny Passage is a stunning scenic trail that spans over 300 miles from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Washington, D.C. Some of that goes through Cumberland, Maryland and it’s a stunning way to view fall foliage.

Hikers, bikers, walkers, and cross-country skiers love to use the trail year-round, but there’s something special about seeing the landscape lit up with bright reds, yellows, and oranges. After seeing some of the region by train, it may be interesting to get a new perspective on things from the ground.

You’ll also find a number of orchards in and near Cumberland where you can live out another fall dream: apple picking. Spend the afternoon selecting the finest apples on every tree and then stuff yourself with cider donuts, which we all know are the best part of apple picking.
