Michelle graduated with a communications degree from the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University and in addition to a career in advertising has worked with OnlyInYourState since 2016, where her love for travel and storytelling converges. There’s nothing quite like a great fabric store if you love crafting and other fiber-related hobbies. You’ll find them throughout New England, but we’re always partial to supporting local businesses right here in Maine. Lucky for us, we’ve got some of the best craft stores in the region. This one, located in the midcoast, even carries state-themed papers and fabric which means we can’t get enough!
Whether you're creative or just feel like trying something new, things like scrapbooking and quilting are always fun.
And whether you're just starting out or have been doing this since you were little, one of the best places to load up on supplies and idea is Fabricate in Bar Harbor.
This cozy little shop (which is actually quite large!) has everything you'll need to get started on a new project. And the people who work here are excited to help you along the way.
They offer tons of 100% cotton fabrics in lots of colors and styles. And unlike some other fabric shops, Fabricate also caters to those who enjoy lots of different crafting hobbies. You'll find 12x12 scrapbooking papers, embellishments and notions including buttons, beads, ribbons, yarns, embroidery flosses and kits, stickers, inks and art supplies.
There's a lot to love about this shop, but those with an affinity for all things Maine will truly appreciate how many themed items are offered. From prints that feature local plants and birds (like these blueberries)...
Not sure what to make? They even offer patterns that will help you create your Maine-themed crafts. This was made using the lobster table runner pattern.
