New England’s Only Zero-Waste Store, GoGo Refill, Is Right Here In Maine
These days we all want to do our part for the environment. That means trying to use less plastic, conserving water and being sure that we’re not littering. It’s easy when we all pitch in, but there are some extra ways we can help. One of those things is committing to creating less waste and a great way to do that is by reusing things like bags and bottles. This new store in South Portland will help you do it!
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate
This bright and airy shop feels like one of the happiest places on earth. And as long as you love the idea of helping to reduce waste on the planet, it just might be your happy place.
This eco-friendly store owned by local, Laura Marston, is dedicated to helping people live in a way that impacts the environment in a less negative way. That means selling all-natural goods as well as making sure people leave with less waste.
While stores like this are popping up all over the world, there was an absence here in Maine. And, if you're not entirely sure where to start, the friendly people who work here are always willing to help.
The process is easy! While there are products that can simply be purchased, most things here are meant to replenish a supply. Think laundry detergent and soap.
First, you'll weigh the empty container you're using and write the weight on the sticker. Next, fill your container with GoGo Refill's bulk product. Then, when it's time to pay, they'll subtract the weight of your container from the amount you're purchasing for the final price.
And if you need a container, just check out the container library. These are free and have. been left by others. Have an extra? Leave yours for someone else.
Visiting GoGo Refill is a great way to feel good about the impact you're having on the earth. And it's perfect for supporting local business here in Maine.
GoGo Refill is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can learn more about them on their website and be sure to follow them on Facebook. They can be reached on 207-747-4072.
The incredible natural attractions in Maine are a great reason to work at keeping the earth clean. One of our favorite ways to enjoy nature is by getting outside here in Vacationland. To remind yourself why we all need to do our part, go wading in the refreshing waters on the scenic beach at Echo Lake!
