If you love Maine's lighthouses and seeing them with either a sunrise or sunset, there's no better place to spend the night than at the Hotel Pemaquid in New Harbor.
The hotel opened for the first time on July 4th, 1888 which means it's seen a lot of Maine over the years. And that includes welcoming folks from away who flock here to appreciate the rocky coast of the most beautiful state in New England.
We also love that the main hotel features a 3rd floor penthouse with a sitting area, kitchenette, marble shower, large bedroom, and views of the Atlantic Ocean.
The individual cottages offer a unique experience. Especially the "Potting Shed" which has vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, a sitting area, a kitchenette and a back porch.
Hotel Pemaquid is typically open the Thursday before Memorial Day through Columbus Day. You can learn more about the hotel, search rates and availability through their website. You can also follow them on Facebook. They can be reached on 207-677-2312. If you’re on the hunt for beautiful lighthouses, we’ve got the perfect activity! Check out the lighthouse road trip on the Maine coast that’s dreamily beautiful.
Michelle has lived in many places, but counts Maine as one of the best. In addition to the smell of ocean water in the air on rainy days in Portland, she loves puppies, photography, funny people, the Maine Red Claws, traveling, fresh tomatoes, Cambodia and filling out forms.
